Feathers are inherently delicate and beautiful, but a touch of metallic paint elevates them to elegant Christmas ornaments. A metallic dipped feather adds a soft, ethereal quality to your minimalist tree.
I love decorating for Christmas. Below are some of my favorite products for decorating.Â
Materials You’ll Need:
- White or light-colored feathers
- Metallic gold, silver, or copper paint
- Small paintbrush
- Newspaper or drop cloth
- Thin ribbon or invisible thread
- Optional: Glitter
Step-by-Step Instructions:
- Prepare your workspace: Lay out newspaper to protect your work surface.
- Select your feathers: Choose feathers that are full and undamaged.
- Apply paint: Carefully paint the tip of each feather with metallic paint. You can create a straight line or a more organic, dipped look.
- Optional – Add glitter: While the paint is still wet, sprinkle a small amount of glitter on the painted portion.
- Let dry: Allow the feathers to dry completely, which usually takes about an hour.
- Add hanging thread: Carefully tie a thin ribbon or invisible thread around the quill of each feather.
Tips:
- Experiment with different metallic colors for variety.
- Try dipping feathers at different lengths for a varied look.
- Group feathers in threes for a fuller ornament.
